Research Lead Madhuri Karak and IFLA! illustrator Matthew Lewis begin with satellite depictions of a patch of Indonesian rainforest as simplistic, repetitive lettering, evoking the reductionist lens of satellite and sensor imaging technologies. The transition to a richer typographic exploration - as story, as memory - represent the closely entwined relationship between forests and Indigenous peoples and local communities.
